Sixty years after he built his first trail as a Boy Scout, Charlie Dundas has built over 1000 miles of trails and knows the ins and outs of decades of trail-building techniques.
Mr. Dundas is the owner and president of Tri-State Trail Construction Company, which he founded in 1989. His projects include work for the US Forest Service, the TVA, and many others. He is a board member and three-time project award recipient of the Professional Trail Builders Association, and has also received the Small Business Association Award of Merit.
Mr. Dundas served in the Vietnam war as a Marine officer in combat engineering and taught as a faculty member at the Marine Corps College. For his service, Mr. Dundas was awarded a Bronze Star. He has also worked as a farmer and surveyor. Mr. Dundas holds a BA in History and MA in Political Geography from Marshall University.
Mr. Dundas is active in the American Trails Association and serves on the executive board of Boy Scouts of America, from whom he earned the Silver Beaver award in his own Scouting days.
